Jim Wallis...

Today I had the opportunity to hear Jim Wallis (of Sojourners) speak at Western Seminary. He has a new book coming out this week... As I listened to him speak today, I got chills running through my body.

When I listen to him, I hear a strong & compelling voice. I also hear somebody who is about the things of Jesus.

Part of his challenge was this: If we as Christians in America are about the ways of Jesus, then why are we not taking the commands of Jesus in regard to being peacemakers seriously? Why have we been seduced into believing that pre-emtive strikes around the globe are our way of being America? As if this is our best way of existence.

In addition, he noted that George Bush is a committed Christian; he is living a transformed life. He is a follower of Jesus. Where he is wrong - he has bad theology.

Food for thought for now...

Brother,
as a pastor and College Ministry leader, let me just say that you are a bit touchy when it came to Steve Camps emails. I for one could not identify one song he has ever sung, because I do not listen to his music, but know who he is. I felt like he was answering you in love, and in honesty, and you are the one who got testy. Relax just a bit bro, and receive thought that may not line up with yours. It will widen your circle of influence and availability.
Peace and Grace,
A fellow Calvinist

Perhaps you are right. Yet, when someone calls names of another person, someone I highly respect, I do get testy.

And on that note, I am a bit too testy. I'm tired of Christ followers putting of with b.s. from others 'in the name of Jesus.' That's crap, and it should be called such. I'm tired of George W. going to war in the name of Jesus. That'a also crap.

Honestly, I think Jesus (& Paul) would also be testly about these things.

It's simple...too many Christians trying to have the mind of "Rush" instead of striving to possess the mind of Christ. Just my observation for what it's worth.
